Rwandan transfer here we go after long negotiations between clubs and player is now officially club and player agree to departure
APR FC has officially confirmed the departure of Richmond Lamptey, popularly known as Dancing Rasta, after just one season with the Rwandan champions.
Lamptey arrived in Rwanda last year with a high profile, having been part of Ghana’s Black Stars squad during the last AFCON tournament. His signing generated a lot of excitement among APR FC fans, with hopes that he would be a key figure in midfield.
However, the 27-year-old midfielder struggled to make a major impact.
During the 2024/2025 Rwanda Premier League season, Lamptey played only 8 matches, recording 0 goals and 0 assists. This performance fell short of expectations, especially considering the club paid $150,000 to secure his services from Asante Kotoko.
According to reliable reports, APR FC has now transferred Lamptey to Ittihad Misurata SC, a top-tier club in Libya, for a fee of $50,000. This represents a significant financial loss for APR FC but provides Lamptey with a fresh opportunity to revive his career.
Why This Transfer Matters
APR FC will now focus on rebuilding their midfield ahead of the 2025 CECAFA Kagame Cup and the new Rwanda Premier League season.
Lamptey will aim to rediscover his form in Libya and prove his worth on the continental stage.
This move highlights the risks clubs face when investing heavily in foreign players.
